Advanced Bonsai – Maintenance, Restyling and Transplanting
Many times, after starting a bonsai, I often had doubts as it grew, wondering how to achieve a “perfect” bonsai.
In truth, we should always aim for perfection, but with the full awareness that perfection doesn’t exist and beauty sometimes lies in imperfection.
In this course, we will emphasize maintenance pruning with light restyling and transplanting on a Calliandra bonsai that has been “abandoned” for almost a year with many defects to be corrected. We will learn the steps of maintenance pruning, the rules of restyling with wiring and Jin/Shari, and finally, transplanting to a proportionally sized pot.
